Log2LoseAI is an 8-month research project at the University of Utah focused on helping people build habits for a healthier lifestyle. Everyone will receive a well-researched weight management program* led by Registered Dietitians that focuses on developing habits for a healthier lifestyle. We do not teach a “diet” or restriction of any specific food or food group.
Participants will attend online group classes and review additional material outside of classes. Everyone will be encouraged to track their weight and log their food in a cell phone app. Participants will receive text messages, participate in surveys, and have their weight measured.
The study team is interested in understanding if providing personalized payments for losing weight and logging food in an app motivates people to weigh themselves regularly and log their food, while receiving weight management instruction from a registered dietitian.
Weight loss, and maintenance of weight loss, can do the following:
- Lower high blood pressure
- Ease up on joints
- Cut your chances of cancer
- Prevent Type 2 Diabetes
- Promote good cholesterol
- Stop sleep apnea
- Improve diabetes management
- Enhance mood
*Participants in similar studies typically lost 10-20 pounds. Individual results may vary.
